I recently had a meeting with the Ullico Senior management team that had just returned from a trip to Carroll County, Ohio, where they toured the progress on the construction of a gas fired power plant, funded in part by our Infrastructure Fund. On the day of their visit, there were 700 union workers on the job.
Every morning those 700 union members are able to go to work on a project financed by union pension funds. Every morning they earn good wages to support their families, pay into their Health & Welfare Funds, and earn credits toward their pension. It just doesn’t get any better than that.
The best part is, this same story for members and contractors can be retold again and again, on our J for Jobs and Infrastructure projects, stretching from Seattle and Los Angeles in the West, to Chicago and St. Louis in the Midwest, to Philadelphia, New York and Boston in the East.
It may be a simple idea, but utilizing labor’s pension dollars in building projects that put union members and contractors to work, is what separates us from the competition. It’s this double bottom line effect that produces what I call the Ullico Difference.
We are proud of our success, but more than that, we are proud to be a part of the union movement that is making a real difference in the lives of working men and women in our country.
Thanks to all of our investors. With your support we are building America.
