Ullico's human resources program received some much-deserved recognition when Tracy Coker, vice president of human resources accepted an Executive Management Award (EMA) from SmartCEO magazine. Nominations for this competitive award are reviewed by an independent committee of local business leaders.
Coker, who describes the professional culture at Ullico as filled with cooperation and camaraderie, credits the company's overarching mission as a reason why the average employee tenure is over 10 years. "Ullico was founded on the principles of serving and valuing the American worker," she says. "Those same principles apply to our employees. We treat them right, and they are willing to stay here and grow."
The company currently has 206 full-time employees comprising a diverse, multi-generational workforce. "In terms of mindset, we look for people who are innovative, collaborative, and are not afraid to take risks," says Coker. "We also look for people who desire to be continuous learners."
As an EMA award-winner, Coker and Ullico will be profiled in SmartCEO magazine and celebrated at an awards reception.
