He plays a valuable role on our senior management team and brings great knowledge of our marketplace to Ullico."

Mae Palmer has been promoted to marketing director for Ullico Casualty Group. She joined Ullico in 2008 and manages broker relations, client relations and communications from the property and casualty business unit. Palmer is also responsible for generating new business opportunities for the company and planning events.

"Mae is truly a great asset to the company," said Bill Cavanagh, president of Ullico Casualty Group. "To say she is focused is an understatement. She is driven to produce results and does so through the relationships she has built in the client-broker community."

Previously, she served as a business development paralegal for a law firm in Washington, D.C. and monitored client relations with its Taft-Hartley fund clients. Palmer graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Ullico’s Investment Services operations have announced that Mike Pistner’s expanded duties as managing director with Ullico Investment Company, Inc. now include serving as the lead point of contact between the company and the investment consulting community.

"It has become clear to us over the last few years how important the investment consultant role has become in our market place," said Joseph Linehan, president of Ullico Investment Company, Inc. "They play an important role with the trustees and we need to have a dedicated investment professional that works exclusively with the consultants. Mike is especially suited to this role given his knowledge and experience."

Pistner also continues to serve investment clients at several international unions. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Business Management and joined Ullico in 1998.

Marcelle Tagliaferri has been promoted to vice president, associate general counsel. She serves as the key liaison to Ullico’s Board members in addition to providing legal work and analysis on corporate governance, regulatory matters, contracts, insurance captives and other legal affairs. Tagliaferri received a law degree from Temple University and a B.A. (cum laude) from Howard University.

"Marcelle has been a key contributor in the law department since she joined Ullico in 2001 and has fostered the board of directors’ confidence in Ullico staff and operations," said Patrick McGlone, Senior V.P., General Counsel, Ullico Inc. "Among her other recent achievements, Marcelle spearheaded the transition of our board meetings to a paperless format, which has been a cost-saving innovation, and handled all the agreements involved in Ullico Casualty Group’s partnership with Alterra America, a Markel company."

Marc Zinsmeister has been promoted to vice president of information technology responsible for a broad range of day-to-day operations of the company, from data center operations to facilities management. In addition, he is involved in I.T. business planning and cultivating strategic partnerships for the organization. Zinsmeister joined Ullico in 2007. Previously, he worked for Cleverex Systems and graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in computer science.

"The I.T. unit plays an integral role in the success of Ullico and they have continued to step up as our company has evolved and changed over the past few years," Smith said. "During his time with Ullico, Marc has demonstrated a great attitude and the ability to take on any challenge."

"The Ullico Infrastructure Fund was established to help meet the capital needs of our nation’s neglected infrastructure," said Linehan. "With almost 15 years of experience in the infrastructure investment area, Rohit has been integral to the success of this program since joining the team in 2012 and is critical to the program’s continued success."

Syal previously served as senior vice president at Loop Capital Markets, where he managed the firm’s infrastructure advisory and finance practice.
