Washington, D.C. (March 9, 2017) – Ullico's human resources program received some much-deserved recognition when SmartCEO magazine honored one of its leaders with an Executive Management Award (EMA).
Tracy Coker, vice president of human resources for Ullico, accepted the award, which acknowledges the leadership and accomplishments of the Washington, D.C.-region's management all-stars. Award-winners uphold the highest ethics, lead collaboratively and creatively, and enhance and support the organization’s mission.
Coker, who describes the professional culture at Ullico as filled with cooperation and camaraderie, credits the company's overarching mission as a reason why the average employee tenure is over 10 years. "Ullico was founded on the principles of serving and valuing the American worker," she says. "Those same principles apply to our employees. We treat them right, and they are willing to stay here and grow."
The company currently has 206 full-time employees comprising a diverse, multi-generational workforce. "In terms of mindset, we look for people who are innovative, collaborative, and are not afraid to take risks," says Coker. "We also look for people who desire to be continuous learners."
Nominations for the competitive SmartCEO awards are reviewed by an independent committee of local business leaders, and winners are chosen based on the quality of the nominations submitted. As an EMA award-winner, Coker and Ullico will be profiled in SmartCEO magazine and celebrated at an awards reception.
"Our unwavering commitment to workers is the very reason we exist," says Ed Smith, president and CEO of Ullico. "That means human resources plays an important role here. We’re proud of Tracy for receiving this award and for her team's exceptional capacity to elevate our program."
