Washington D.C. (August 6, 2019) – Ullico is pleased to announce the addition of Mike Barone and Andrew G. Stone, CFA to UIA Investment Management, LLC (UIA-IM), a recently launched investment platform providing fixed-income investment management services to institutional fund sponsors.

Mr. Barone serves as Head of Corporate Credit Research at UIA-IM. In this role, he builds analytical models and systems used to evaluate company capital structures and credit, and is responsible for the analysis and selection of corporate credit securities. Over the last 20 years, Barone has covered investment grade and high yield bonds, convertible bonds, and bank loans in various credit analyst roles with asset managers, hedge funds, banks, and insurance companies. Prior to joining UIA-IM, he was a member of the Strategic Debt Management Group at North Carolina State University. He has also served as a Senior Credit Analyst with Silverback Asset Management, Akela Capital, Deutsche Asset Management, and MetLife Investment Management. Prior to joining MetLife, Mr. Barone served over seven years on Active Duty in the US Army as a Field Artillery Officer. Mr. Barone earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Hofstra University. He also completed The Bank of New York’s formal credit training program.
Mr. Stone joins as Senior Portfolio Manager focusing on corporate credit and multi-sector investment strategies at UIA-IM, leading the firm’s corporate credit investment activity. Previously Mr. Stone served as a Director in the Fixed Income Group at Invesco Institutional, based in Atlanta, Georgia. During his 21 years at Invesco, Mr. Stone held various positions, including serving for six years as a Portfolio Manager for Institutional Core Fixed Income portfolios. For 12 years, he served as a Senior Credit Research Analyst and covered industrial issuers across the credit spectrum in both cash and structured products. He also served as a credit trader, responsible for executing cash and CDS transactions in the financial sector. Prior to joining Invesco, Mr. Stone served six years on Active Duty in the US Army as a Field Artillery Officer. He is a graduate of US Army Airborne and Ranger Schools. Mr. Stone holds a Master of Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in General Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
