Washington, D.C. (Sept. 17, 2020) — Ullico has achieved a 100 percent rating on the North America's Building Trades Unions (NABTU) Infrastructure Manager Report Card. NABTU recently released the ranking, which scored 12 infrastructure asset managers on 10 different criteria, including Effectiveness, Coverage, Reports Work Hours, Policy Enforcement Provisions and the use of PLAs.
"Ullico is a leader when it comes to supporting the labor movement and securing union workers' futures," said Edward M. Smith, president and CEO of Ullico Inc. "We're pleased to make investments that benefit union pension funds, but also put union members and union contractors to work."
The Ullico Infrastructure Fund was established in 2010 to assist in the construction, maintenance and refurbishment of America's infrastructure. It finished calendar year 2019 with $1.7 billion in assets under management and a portfolio of investments comprising all major sectors, including wind, solar, natural gas energy generation, electricity transmission, water, water distribution and treatment, transportation and social infrastructure.
"We look for deals that work for our investors but also benefit the labor movement and strengthen local communities. Infrastructure projects can generate a lot of work hours, and a lot of complex skills are needed on the job. Ullico is unique in the way it brings the investment piece together with that mission," said Jeff Murphy, Managing Director, Ullico Infrastructure Fund.
In addition to its goal of providing investors with appropriate risk-adjusted returns, Ullico's infrastructure business seeks to promote union jobs. "Infrastructure assets are long-term, solid investments that can generate steady cash flow for union pension funds," said Joseph R. Linehan, President of Ullico Investment Advisors.
