Ullico Inc. is actively recruiting a Regional Underwriting Manager.  This candidate will primarily manage renewals for the Midwest Region, responsible for the underwriting profitablity and conservation on assigned block of accounts. Delegates workload to assigned staff and ensures underwriting is accurate as well as consistent with company guidelines and profitability goals. Analyzes claims experience along with all other factors affecting the risk to establish appropriate premium rates for renewal proposals. Ensures that changes to existing policies are processed and communicated to clients on a timely basis. Maintains internal and external relationships relative to underwriting activities

DUTIES: 

  • Analyzes claims experience along with all other factors affecting the risk to determine appropriate premium rates on assigned block of Accounts to ensure that profitability and persistency goals are achieved.
  • Delegates work assignments to staff, ensures accuracy in underwriting activities and approves rate actions.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with senior management, with sales, and with third parties including brokers, agents and administrators.
  • Analyzes experience and profitability levels on assigned block of Accounts and reports results to senior management.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes to underwriting procedures and/or systems used for underwriting.
  • Trains new and current staff regarding underwriting issues.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five to seven years of Group Underwriting experience with particular emphasis on stop loss insurance. Must be able to act in a lead capacity and be able to handle multiple priorities with shifting time frames and meet deadlines.  Effective written and oral communication skills are required.  Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel is required.
