ULLICO employee, Mac Williams presented Ed Smith, President of ULLICO, a plaque of appreciation on behalf of ball players with The George Goodman Basketball League. The recognition is the league’s way of thanking ULLICO for sponsoring TEAM ULLICO and making it possible for more local residents to play ball competitively. The league, headed by Miles Rawls, is popular throughout the greater D.C. area and attracts hundreds of fans to the games played at the courts of the Barry Farms Dwelling located in D.C.’s Southeast section. Current and former NBA players, college stars, and community members participate in the games. Williams, Coach and Manager of TEAM ULLICO says, “The games are a source of pride for everyone and uplift the residents of an inner city neighborhood.” Last season, the team made it to the playoffs but finished in fourth place with ten wins and six losses; this year the team has its sights set on getting into the playoffs and winning the first round. Smith says that shouldn’t be a problem and he has, “complete faith and confidence in TEAM ULLICO because we have the hardest working players.”
