Union Labor Life's UlliCare Receives URAC Reaccreditation
WASHINGTON,October 31,2001-- The Union Labor Life Insurance Company announced that its care management program,UlliCare,has been awarded a Health Utilization Management Accreditation from URAC,also known as the American Accreditation HealthCare Commission. The two-year reaccreditation is the third one for UlliCare,beginning with its first participation in 1997.
To achieve URAC accreditation,UlliCare's operations in both the King of Prussia,Penn.,and the San Francisco offices,underwent a thorough evaluation of their health care management processes and procedures,including onsite operational assessments.
"The accreditation is voluntary and shows that UlliCare's utilization review operations meet one of the industry's highest levels of quality and accountability for managed care organizations," said Kelly Ellston,assistant vice president of Union Labor Life's Claims and Care Management.
Garry Carneal,URAC president and CEO,said,"By applying for and receiving URAC accreditation,Union Labor Life's UlliCare has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care. Quality health care is crucial to our nation's welfare,and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards."
The UlliCare care management services include utilization review,case management,maternity management,centers of excellence,and medical and hospital claims review.
The group insurance products and care management services are branded under UlliCare and offered through The Union Labor Life Insurance Company. UlliCare has offered utilization review and care management programs since 1985.
